Message to bloggers,

After you have posted a comment you will need to re-fresh your browser to see the comment published, after the comment has been accepted. It doesn't work like email.

Katie, all your comments were posted, only you couldn't see them because you weren't refreshing. Also, there may be some delay between comments being posted and published. Nadine likes to check all comments herself on her BlackBerry first. As an MP working 80ish hours a week with 77,000 constituent to look after, it doesn't always happen right away - but she tries her best to make it happen as quickly as possible.

I think we are b****y lucky to have an MP like her. Who else do you know who even gets to see their MP? Never mind have every idle thought written down and read by someone like Nadine.MikeH, Katie, John, Dave, you should count yourselves lucky and stop complainig. My god, what do you think she is, your personal servant? She is there for everyone, stop hogging her.I think you should stop allowing comments Nadine. Let them eat cake! Mmmm, yes, I noticed.

Alison, did I complain? I don't think so, but if there was anything that could be interpreted as a complaint, it wasn't intended to be one. Yes, I agree, Nadine has lots of other more important things to do than respond when we post. Personally I'd be very sorry to see the comment feature disappear. Our MPs are, generally speaking, a distant lot and anything that allows their electorate to get a better understanding about what they believe and care about has to be a good thing. I think Nadine has a great asset here - don't forget that the number of readers of her blog and the ensuing debate in the comments section bears no relation to the number of active contributors - so when she's speaking to us, she's speaking to probably thosands and thousands of people. Where else is there such a good platform to be had? It might be a heavy commitment, but it's something to be valued and, if possible, preserved. I can't imagine our previous MPs in Mid-Beds using the internet to talk to their constituents. Nadine is leading the way for other politicians to follow, and long may it last.

I have no idea if this will get through but here goes. I made several attempts to make a comment about a subject close to my heart having personal experience of losing a child who unknown to me within a matter of minutes had managed to get out of the house and was killed crossing the village road.As the other commentors have stated, who also made attempts it is extremely frustrating especially when you can't but help being emotional about a subject.I do not believe I complained about Nadine, and she is very aware how highly I rate her. But as I am sure that neither of us want to get into silly arguements I will refrain from contributing in future.Something is obviously wrong somewhere, whilst my comments got through on yesterday's blog they definitely didn't on todays. Thankyou Nadine

Anon Researcher, while of course you're quite correct about needing to refresh to see new content in a browser window, do you think this is the entire problem - especially when regular contributors to the site appear to be having problems? For instance, there are messages on the 'McGovern' blog by folk who tried to post a response to the 'Madeleine' blog, but were unable to do so. To me, that doesn't sound like a failure to refresh. I'm also surprised at the limited number of comments against the 'Madeleine' blog, given the subject matter. I've had several posts that have appeared today on the site OK, but there's nothing from anyone else in between my contributions. I find this surprising. I spent my entire working life in IT and my nose tells me that something is adrift with the technology. Sorry if I'm sticking my oar in where it isn't needed, but I find it difficult not to venture an opinion when I suspect there's a technical problem affecting something that normally works perfectly well. Sorry :-)

It seemed that way to me Mike. I felt you were all ganging up on her a bit to be frank. I sit in an office at a desk all day, one of the highlights of my day is logging onto Nadines blog. I don't want that to go because others are making it difficult for her. Sorry to be touchy, just thought everyone was getting a bit much that's all.

Katie, I'm really sorry to hear that. Someone who has so much insight into the sort of tragedy that was the subject of Nadine's blog today has infinitely more right than the rest of us to post a comment on the subject. Don't let a few IT glitches put you off.

OK everyone, I am back at my desk now! Can this be enough about the comments. My researcher has tried to find out what went wrong today. I can only say I am sorry if you tried to post comments and couldn't. I don't do anxt everyone, only smiles, so lets all be happy now. I wont be approving any more comments after the next few minutes, I have to go eat. Thanks to all of you who posted on the Iraq blog. The blog was featured on in their best of the blogosphere section.I thought it was a really good thread with some very stimulating comments.

I think that all your people are wonderful and I especially liked that very smart and witty remark left in Latin by Anon Researcher. I hope all is well.
